The Sun Rising

“The Sun Rising”, written by John Donne is iodin man’s account of the powerful and wonderful experiences that defect brings. Donne expresses the feelings that are bestowed upon him when he is with his lover, and how he finds the lie disruptive to their infrequent and limited time spent together. The title refers to the rising cheer as it shines through their window in the morning, interrupting their intimate love-making, and due to the power of love, ultimately feel wealthier and more powerful accordingly “kings’ and ‘princes”. In the rime, the speaker is directly speaking to the fair weathershine, condemning the temperateness as it rises. There is a conversational and confronting tone as the author converses with the temperateness. The poesy consists of dialogue amongst the man and the sun, precious throughout the tone shifts from being cynical to annoyed to a consolatory tone as he becomes thankful for the sun. At first the author has quite a volatile advancement path to the sun, but soon becomes gratified of the sun’s transport that is felt among them. The author’s tone takes a ironic approach to the poem which becomes evident when he describes the sun as a “saucy pedantic wretch” and personifies the sun as a “busy old fool”.

The poem is written in three stanzas and has the same rhyming name throughout, although at the beginning of each stanza there are a distinguishable number of syllables making it uneven. The poem can be shared into three parts; the first is the author condemni ng the sun of rising, the second is the auth! or’s boastful temper as he claims he could “eclipse and cloud” the sun’s rays and the third expressing that nothing else in the world matters by from the dickens lovers.
